Presley Gerber, the model and son of American supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.
Gerber died on Sunday, September 20, at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, according to records cited from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His death was subsequently confirmed by a representative for his family.
The cause of death has not been determined publicly. With the medical investigation still ongoing, there is no confirmed basis for attributing his death to a particular medical condition or substance.
His family has requested privacy during what their representative described as an extremely difficult and painful period. Gerber was Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s eldest child and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.
Presley Gerber Followed His Mother Into Fashion
Born in California in 1999, Presley grew up in one of America's most recognisable fashion families. His mother, Cindy Crawford, became one of the defining supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s, while his father, Rande Gerber, built a career in hospitality and business.
Presley eventually entered modelling himself. He was signed by IMG Models while still a teenager and made his runway debut for Moschino in Los Angeles in 2016. He later worked with major fashion names including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Celine.
His younger sister Kaia also established a high-profile modelling career before expanding into acting. The siblings appeared together professionally on several occasions, making them part of a new generation associated with the Crawford-Gerber family in fashion.
One of Presley's most visible mainstream appearances came in 2018, when he joined his mother in a Pepsi advertisement connected with the Super Bowl. The appearance deliberately recalled Crawford's famous Pepsi campaign from the early 1990s and brought mother and son together on screen.
While his family connections brought public attention from an early age, Gerber gradually developed his own identity in the fashion industry, appearing on runways and in advertising campaigns rather than simply remaining known as the child of famous parents.
Gerber Had Spoken Publicly About His Personal Struggles
In more recent years, Presley became increasingly open about difficult periods in his personal life, including mental-health challenges and substance use.
Rather than keeping those experiences entirely private, he used social media to discuss some of them publicly. In 2025, he began sharing a series called Mental Health Mondays, intended to encourage more candid conversations around issues people often avoid discussing.
His sister Kaia had also spoken publicly about the impact her brother's long-running struggles had on their family. In an interview published before his death, she described how addiction within a family can affect everyone around the person experiencing it.
Those previous disclosures will inevitably receive renewed attention following his death. However, they should not be treated as evidence of what caused it. Authorities had not publicly established a cause of death as of Monday, and the medical examiner's investigation remained the authoritative process for determining what happened.
That distinction is particularly important in breaking celebrity news, where unverified explanations can spread rapidly across social media before official findings are available.
Tributes Follow News of Presley Gerber’s Death
News of Gerber's death began spreading internationally late Sunday and into Monday morning, quickly drawing attention from entertainment and fashion audiences.
The family has so far kept its public response brief, asking to be given space to grieve privately.
Gerber's death comes at an unusually young age and closes a modelling career that began while he was still in his teens. Although his surname connected him immediately to one of fashion's best-known figures, his work ultimately included major international fashion houses, runway appearances and advertising campaigns of his own.
For many people following the story, attention will now turn to any further information released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Until that process is completed, the most important fact remains that no official cause of death has been announced.
